Sabine M. Brouxhon, M.D., is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD). Her research focuses on neuroinflammation, prostaglandin signaling pathways in cancer and wound healing, and the neuroimmunological mechanisms underlying chronic diseases. She has held post-doctoral fellowships in Dermatology and Emergency Medicine at the University of Rochester, with training spanning from 1998 to 2002.
Dr. Brouxhon’s academic contributions include over 15 peer-reviewed articles exploring topics such as neurodegenerative disease models (e.g., Sandhoff disease), UV-induced skin carcinogenesis, and cytokine regulation in trauma patients. Her work bridges basic science and clinical applications, particularly in gene therapy and inflammatory disease mechanisms.
Her awards include the Emergency Medicine Career Development Award (2002–2003), EMF Creativity Grant (2001–2002), and Resident Research Fellowship (2000–2001). Her research has consistently addressed translational questions at the intersection of immunology, neuroscience, and dermatology.
