Sabine Lettmann

Sabine Lettmann serves as a Senior Lecturer in Fashion Design at Birmingham City University (BCU), holding a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Academy (SFHEA). With over 20 years of professional experience spanning freelance design, international collections, and collaborations with prestigious institutions including the Hamburg State Opera and Hamburg Ballet, she integrates industry practice with academic leadership across fashion programmes in Germany, Denmark, the UK, Ukraine, and Greece.

Her research and creative practice centers on sustainable fashion transformation through circular economy principles, regenerative systems design, and socially inclusive production methodologies. She pioneers designing for lease as a distribution channel while emphasizing ethical manufacturing through long-standing partnerships with social workshops and migrant communities, positioning systems thinking as fundamental to industry-wide change.
