Sabato Santaniello

Sabato Santaniello is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Connecticut (Storrs campus). His research develops computational approaches for neurological disorders and neural prosthetic systems, with two primary thrusts: (1) modeling neural disorder impacts on brain electrophysiology across scales, and (2) designing control algorithms for adaptive neural prostheses targeting Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, and brain-computer interfaces.

Key projects include algorithms for automatic seizure onset detection/location in drug-resistant epilepsy using intracranial EEG, Bayesian estimation, and optimal control; and investigating resonant stimulation effects in Parkinson's treatment via deep brain stimulation. He maintains a research lab focused on these computational neuroengineering challenges.
