Sabah Boustila

Dr. Sabah Boustila is a Lecturer in User Experience and Web Design at Manchester Metropolitan University. Previously, she held positions as Lecturer and Research Assistant at the University of Strasbourg (2015–2017), Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Toronto (2018–2020), and returned to Strasbourg for further postdoctoral research. She earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Strasbourg (2012–2016), focusing on virtual reality tools for architectural project reviews and spatial perception challenges.

Her research interests center on Virtual and Augmented Reality (XR) applications addressing real-world problems like navigation aids and spatial interactions. She explores how virtual environments can enhance decision-making in fields such as construction, transportation, and military operations. Her work emphasizes improving user experience and accuracy in XR systems through interdisciplinary approaches.

Teaching focuses on fostering inclusive, interactive environments using varied methods (e.g., group work, quizzes). She has taught courses such as User Experience for Creative Industries and Web Site Development at Manchester, and Fundamentals of UX at the University of Toronto. Supervision includes mentoring M.S. students in XR-related projects at ICube Lab (Strasbourg) and Kitamura-Lab (Tohoku University).

Boustila serves as an expert reviewer for journals like IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics and conferences such as ACM SIGCHI AutoUI. She is fluent in Arabic, English, and French.
