Saara Pyykkö is a Visiting Professor at the Department of Architecture, School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Aalto University. She is currently a doctoral student with a research focus on color in architectural and urban environments. Her work bridges color theory, urban design, and educational methodologies.
Her research interests include:

- Wood color in contemporary architecture

- Color policy in urban planning
Her recent publications explore color zoning in Helsinki's Koivusaari neighborhood, cross-European wood color trends, and digital adaptations of design courses. She has received recognition for her work, including the 2018 Student Paper Awards First Prize and a 2022 Honourable Mention.
