Dr Saadiah Munir is a Lecturer at the School of Business, Monash University Malaysia. She holds a Doctor of Business Administration from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, an M.Sc in Accounting and Finance from the University of Birmingham, and a Bachelor of Accounting from Universiti Malaya. Her academic and professional journey reflects a strong commitment to accounting education and research in emerging domains such as ESG and halal industries.
Her research focuses on corporate governance, audit quality, environmental stewardship, and the halal industry, with a particular emphasis on Malaysian firms and Islamic business practices. These interests align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially in education, responsible consumption, and sustainable economic growth. She advocates for engaging, effective, and empathetic teaching methods and has extensive experience teaching accounting at all levels, including to non-accounting majors.
The recent publications of Dr Munir span topics such as halal tourism sustainability, mobile banking for financial inclusion, stakeholder engagement in environmental practices, and halal trade economics. These works reflect a consistent interdisciplinary approach combining accounting, sustainability, Islamic finance, and public policy. Her research output demonstrates growing impact, with publications in Springer and peer-reviewed journals like the Journal of Islamic Marketing and Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal.
