SUHAILA MOHAMED is a Principal Research Fellow at the Institute of Bioscience, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), with a research focus on natural products and their therapeutic applications in chronic diseases. Her work spans multiple disciplines including phytotherapy, nutrition, and biomedical sciences.
Her research interests primarily center around natural products for treating musculoskeletal disorders (particularly osteoarthritis and osteoporosis), anti-diabetic agents, cardiovascular protection, and cancer therapy. She has extensively investigated the therapeutic potential of various plant extracts including Java Tea (Orthosiphon stamineus), Labisia pumila, Morinda species, Ficus deltoidea, and citrus extracts.
Her publication record shows a strong emphasis on preclinical research using rat models to evaluate the mechanisms of action of natural compounds. Her work typically examines anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and tissue-protective pathways at molecular, cellular, and physiological levels. She frequently employs advanced techniques including metabolomics, gene expression analysis, and histomorphometry in her research.
Her scientific contributions demonstrate consistent productivity with numerous publications in reputable journals including Phytotherapy Research, Journal of Food Biochemistry, Inflammopharmacology, and BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
