SONIA ISABEL REMONDES COSTA

Sonia Isabel Remondes Costa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education and Psychology (DEP) at the School of Human and Social Sciences (ECHS) of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), with additional affiliation at IINFACTS – Institute of Research and Advanced Training in Health Sciences and Technologies (CESPU – Gandra).

Her academic credentials include:

• Degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology (2001) from Lusófona University of Lisbon
• Diploma of Advanced Studies in Clinical and Health Psychology (2010) from University of Salamanca
• European Doctorate in Clinical and Health Psychology (2012) from University of Salamanca
• Postgraduate Degree in Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (2015) from University of Lisbon Faculty of Medicine

Her research centers on Clinical and Health Psychology with specialized focus in psycho-oncology, examining social support mechanisms in cancer-related stress and coping strategies. She integrates clinical hypnosis methodologies within therapeutic frameworks for oncology patients.

Professional recognition includes the Extraordinary Prize of "Grado de Salamanca" awarded in January 2011 for her thesis on social support implications in breast cancer disease.

Dr. Costa serves as a supervisor for Professional Internships accredited by the Portuguese Order of Psychologists (OPP) since 2012. She holds dual certifications as a Psycho-oncologist (accredited by International Psycho-Oncology Society) and Specialist in Health Psychology through OPP.

Her academic tenure spans since September 2003 at UTAD, preceded by a Visiting Assistant Professor position at Modern University of Porto (2001-2003).
