S. Luke Flory is a Professor and Associate Chair in Invasion Ecology at the University of Florida within the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. He leads the Flory Lab, which investigates the mechanisms and impacts of non-native plant invasions and their interactions with global change drivers such as climate change, fire, and pathogens.
- PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (Indiana University)
- MSc in Applied Ecology (Indiana University)
His research spans diverse ecosystems including Galápagos highlands, Costa Rican coffee agroecosystems, US deciduous forests, and Florida’s pine forests. Key projects include the UF/IFAS Assessment of Non-native Plants in Florida and a 2024-funded study abroad course on global change threats to food systems in Croatia.
The Flory Lab's publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches to invasion ecology, focusing on plant-disease interactions, climate change resilience, and sustainable management practices. His work has been funded by the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP), NSF/NIH/USDA Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Disease (EEID) program, and the Florida Forest Service.
