Rüdiger Fahlenbrach

Rüdiger Fahlenbrach is a Professor at the Swiss Finance Institute (SFI) at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, holding a senior chair. He previously served at the Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business and earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton). His roles include Director of the CDM College and membership in the European Finance Association and EPFL’s academic strategic committee.

Research Interests: Focuses on empirical corporate finance, corporate governance, and entrepreneurship. His work has been published in top journals like the Journal of Finance and Review of Financial Studies, and featured in media such as The New York Times and Financial Times.

• Supervised 9 PhD theses at EPFL, including works by Stefano Colonnello and Yalda Sigrist.
• Current advisees: Daria Davydova, Alice Eliet-Doillet, and Luiz Maudonado Bissoto.

Labs & Teams: Leads the SFI-RF Lab, part of the Swiss Finance Institute, and oversees the CDM College’s strategic direction from his role at EPFL’s College of Management.
