Dr. Róbert Klement serves as Deputy Director for Education and Training and Researcher at the Department of Functional Materials, Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín. His academic career spans multiple leadership roles in research projects and doctoral education.
His educational background includes an MSc (1993) and PhD (2001) from Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, Faculty of Chemical Technology, Department of Physical Chemistry, followed by habilitation as Associate Professor (2018) at Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín.
Klement's research focuses on Physical Chemistry of Luminescent Materials, particularly glass and glass-ceramic systems based on rare-earth aluminates. His work encompasses spectroscopic techniques (Photoluminescence, EPR, UV-VIS-NIR), electrochemistry, and applications in white light emitting diodes (pc-WLEDs) and biomedical fields. His publications demonstrate expertise in crystallization kinetics, phosphor materials development, and radiation shielding glass technologies.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals consistent focus on glass-ceramic materials for lighting applications, with particular emphasis on yttrium-aluminate systems and rare-earth doping for luminescent properties. His research bridges fundamental materials science with practical applications in solid-state lighting technology.
As principal investigator, Klement has led multiple national research projects including:
- VEGA 1/0603/09 (2009-2011): Glass and glass-ceramic materials based on rare-earth aluminates
- VEGA 1/0631/14 (2014-2017): Novel glass-ceramic materials for pc-WLED applications
- VEGA 1/0527/18 (2018-2021): Long persistent phosphors for optical and biomedical applications
- APVV-17-0049 (2018-2022): Novel phosphors for energy-saving solid state lighting
In his teaching role, Klement is responsible for doctoral studies in Inorganic technologies and materials, covering Physical Chemistry, Functional properties of materials, and various spectroscopy methods. He also serves as supervisor for PhD students, guiding their experimental work and publication activities.
