Réal Labelle

Réal Labelle is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Addictology at Université de Montréal. He specializes in the study, evaluation, and psychological treatment of suicidal behaviors in adolescents, as well as risk and protective factors associated with suicidal tendencies. His research also focuses on mental disorders such as bipolar disorder, depression, and borderline personality among adolescents with suicidal behaviors.

He co-founded the Clinique des troubles de l'humeur at Hôpital Rivière-des-Prairies in Montréal and developed the mobile application PsyAssistance© to assist individuals experiencing depressive crises with suicidal tendencies. Labelle is a member of the Centre de recherche de l'Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal (CR-IUSMM).

Key Research Projects:

• VALIDATION D'UN LOGICIEL D'EVALUATION DES TROUBLES MENTAUX (DSM-IV-TR) POUR LES JEUNES DE 12 À 15 ANS (2009–2014): Co-researcher in a project led by Lise Bergeron, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (IRSC).
• RESEAU UNIVERSITAIRE FRANCO-QUEBECOIS SUR LES PSYCHOLOPATHOLOGIES ASSOCIÉES AUX CONDUITES SUICIDAIRES A L'ADOLESCENCE (2011–2013): Lead researcher, funded by the Ministère des Relations internationales.
