Ryan Scott Coles is an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurial Management at the University of Connecticut's School of Business. His research focuses on entrepreneurship, technology commercialization, and organizational growth strategies across diverse global contexts, including the U.S., Mexico, Peru, Colombia, and Jordan. He investigates the social foundations of entrepreneurship, exploring topics such as income inequality’s impact on entrepreneurial activity, the effects of environmental shocks on new ventures, and how social movements like Black Lives Matter shape entrepreneurial opportunities for marginalized communities.
Outside academia, Coles has advised startups in volun-tourism and fintech sectors and provided strategic guidance to venture capital firms investing in ed-tech, biotech, and fitness industries. Fluent in Spanish and Arabic, he advocates for equality, sustainability, and scientific exploration.
