Ryan Fong is a Professor of English and Department Chair at Kalamazoo College, where he specializes in nineteenth-century British literature, particularly the Victorian period. He also contributes to the Women, Gender, and Sexuality program and teaches courses on East Asian diasporic literatures, literary theory, and social justice. Holding a PhD and MA from the University of California, Davis, and a BA from Whittier College, Dr. Fong is currently working on a book examining colonial and Indigenous literatures across the British empire.

Dr. Fong has earned a prestigious two-year faculty fellowship at the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership, where he focuses on centering indigeneity in the Kalamazoo College curriculum and making reparations to Michigan's Potawatomi tribes. He emphasizes the importance of literary history for students, advocating for understanding continuities and developments across periods from Beowulf to contemporary works.
