Ryan Cox is an Associate Lecturer in the Discipline of Philosophy at the University of Sydney's School of Humanities. His research spans moral and political philosophy, philosophy of mind, epistemology, and philosophy of language. He holds a BA, MA, GradCert, and PhD from various institutions.
Cox's political philosophy examines social equality's relationship with democratic values, educational justice, and political legitimacy. In philosophy of mind, he investigates self-knowledge, introspective beliefs, and first-person perspectives. His linguistic research analyzes why-interrogatives and explanatory language structures.
Publications explore democratic theory, educational justice frameworks, and philosophical models of self-knowledge. Recent work examines political legitimacy in relation to Indigenous representation and constitutional reform in Australia.
Teaching includes Contemporary Political Philosophy, Introductory Logic, and Introduction to PPE. Cox convenes the University of Sydney Philosophy Seminar Series and maintains active membership in professional philosophy networks.
