Dr. Ruxin Wang is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas--San Antonio's College of AI, Cyber and Computing. She leads the Cybersecurity, Privacy, and Healthcare Lab (CypherLab), focusing on cutting-edge research in security systems and healthcare technology. Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Southern Methodist University, an M.S. from Syracuse University, and a B.S. from Northeast Forestry University.
Dr. Wang's research bridges Cybersecurity, Privacy, and AI-Driven Healthcare through innovative applications of mobile sensing and AR/MR technologies. Her work explores:
- Low-effort biometric authentication using hand geometry
- Distracted driving detection via device gripping patterns
- Healthcare monitoring with off-the-shelf smart glasses
- Novel security applications for everyday devices (e.g., Bluetooth headphones)
Her recent publications demonstrate strong focus on human-centric security solutions and health monitoring systems, with recurring themes in wearable technology and real-time sensing algorithms. Recent works include drinking monitoring via AR glasses (2025) and VR headset authentication (2023).
