Ruth Simpson is a retired Teaching Professor affiliated with the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ontario Tech University. She is based at the Energy Systems and Nuclear Science Research Centre (ERC) in North Oshawa. Education: Ruth holds a Medical Laboratory Technology Diploma from Fanshawe College (London, Ontario) and is currently completing a Bachelor of Allied Health Sciences degree at Ontario Tech University.
Research interests focus on point-of-care technology, integrating lab information systems as educational tools, and supporting hearing-impaired students in teaching environments. She has also contributed to clinical practice as a registered medical laboratory technologist and point-of-care coordinator before transitioning to academia.
Courses taught include Clinical Biochemistry I & II, Introduction to Foundations in Clinical and Exercise Biochemistry, and Simulated Clinical Practicum within the Medical Laboratory Science program.
Ruth’s work emphasizes bridging clinical practice with educational innovation, particularly in leveraging technology for accessible learning.
