Dr Ruth Plume is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Health at Middlesex University, based in the Faculty of Science and Technology's Natural Sciences department. She specializes in teaching public health strategy, environmental health interventions, occupational wellbeing, and leadership. Her research focuses on emergency responder wellbeing, qualitative research methods in public administration, and the impact of austerity on environmental health services.
Her work includes developing frameworks for resource-constrained environmental health systems and analyzing professional wellbeing in high-stress roles. She has supervised five doctoral students since 2020, focusing on occupational safety and health wellbeing.
