Ruth Oliver

Ruth Oliver is an Assistant Professor at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management, University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research focuses on leveraging big data and emerging technologies to study biodiversity and ecological responses to anthropogenic change. She specializes in automated biodiversity sensors like camera traps, audio recorders, and tracking devices to inform policy decisions.

Education: PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences (Columbia University), MPhil and MA in Earth and Environmental Sciences (Columbia University), BA in Physics (Claremont McKenna College). Previously held a position as Associate Research Scientist at Yale University's Center for Biodiversity and Global Change.
