Ruth Morley

Ruth Morley is a Flute Lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), specializing in teaching flute performance, chamber music, and interpretation. She is a core member of Red Note Ensemble, Scotland’s contemporary music ensemble, and a composer with works published by Tetractys. Her teaching spans undergraduate and graduate programs, emphasizing technical skill and stylistic versatility. She founded and directed the Scottish International Flute Summer School for 20 years, fostering international flute education.

Ruth’s research interests focus on contemporary music performance, composition, and pedagogy. Her compositions, such as Whisper and Neon Flicker, explore modern techniques and have garnered recognition like the Scottish Awards for New Music shortlist and the 2024 Alpine Fellowship Music Prize nomination. She collaborates with artists like Laura Bowler and Scott Mitchell, blending performance with composition.
