Ruth Langer is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Advanced Study „Access to Cultural Goods in Digital Change“ (KFG 33), University of Münster, since April 2023. She has held roles including Coordinator of the Collaborative Research Centre „Breaking Barriers – Immune cells and pathogens at cell/matrix barriers“ (SFB 1009) from 2017–2024, and Executive Secretary of the DFG Centre for Advanced Study in Bioethics (FOR 1209) from 2010–2018. Her academic journey includes part-time studies (1991–1997) in English/German Studies, Educational Science, and Psychology at the University of Münster, where she completed her first state examination for secondary school teaching.
Her professional projects focus on cultural access, addiction prevention, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Notable initiatives include coordinating EU projects like „SEARCH II“ (2002–2004) targeting addiction prevention among migrants and refugees, and organizing cultural events such as the „Grenzgänge“ festival (2000) with Prof. Dr. Helmut H. Koch.
Langer actively contributes to academic communities, serving as a board member of the University of Münster Choir since 2016. Her current research emphasizes digital transformation impacts on cultural heritage accessibility, legal frameworks for digital libraries, and museum historiography.
