معرفی
Professor Ruth Gregory is a distinguished theoretical physicist serving as Head of the Department of Physics at King's College London since 2021. She holds the academic rank of Professor of Theoretical Particle Physics and leads research in General Relativity and Cosmology. Her career includes professorships at Durham University (2005–2021) and postdoctoral roles at Fermilab, University of Chicago, and Cambridge under Stephen Hawking's relativity group.
Education: PhD in Theoretical Physics from DAMTP, University of Cambridge (1988), followed by research fellowships including Royal Society University Research Fellowship and PPARC Advanced Fellowship.
Research interests focus on black hole physics, cosmological models beyond the Standard Model (supersymmetry, extra dimensions, string theory), and quantum gravity. Notable contributions include studies on black hole thermodynamics, vacuum decay mechanisms, and holographic systems.
Key awards include the Maxwell Medal (2006) and Royal Society Wolfson Merit Award (2011). She co-led the Theoretical Particle Physics & Cosmology (TPPC) group at King's, advancing interdisciplinary research.
Her work includes mentoring PhD students (no named advisees listed) and collaborating on grants related to black hole simulations and quantum technologies. She actively participates in institutional initiatives, including the Department's Athena Swan Silver award (2024).
