Ruth Conroy Dalton is a Professor of Architecture at Northumbria University, Newcastle, specializing in space syntax analysis, pedestrian movement, and spatial cognition. She previously held roles as Founding Professor of Architecture and Head of the Lancaster School of Architecture at Lancaster University (2019–2022). Her career includes licensed architectural work for firms like Foster + Partners and academic positions at institutions such as the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dalton’s research bridges architecture with cognitive science, focusing on how spatial design impacts navigation and social behavior. She has authored/co-authored over 200 publications and led projects like the Sea Hero Quest game, which uses gaming to study spatial navigation linked to dementia research.
