Rute Xavier is a Lecturer in the Department of Management at ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa’s Iscte Business School, teaching Consultancy and Strategy in the Master’s in Management and the Lisbon MBA programs. She holds a PhD in Management (Strategy/Entrepreneurship) from ISCTE, a Master’s in Finance from CATÓLICA-LISBÓN, and a Bachelor’s in Economics from NOVA SBE. With over 16 years as a director in multinational consulting firms, she also serves as Executive Director at CEA (Centro de Estudos Avançados).
Her research focuses on strategic consulting, business model innovation, healthcare management, and financial literacy. Recent work explores topics like ophthalmology care accessibility, agribusiness innovation drivers, and patient flow optimization in hospitals. She advises on topics ranging from digital health startups to CRM strategies in emerging markets.
Notable contributions include frameworks for knowledge management in organizations, financial risk tolerance testing, and tools to reduce patient waiting times. Her applied research bridges academic rigor with real-world business challenges, particularly in consulting methodologies and startup governance structures.
Leveraging expertise from CEA and executive roles, her work emphasizes practical solutions for organizational effectiveness across sectors like retail, healthcare, and logistics. She collaborates with institutions on educational travel programs to enhance business competence and has conducted impact studies on major events like Lisbon’s Web Summit.
