Research Interests: Dr. Jessup develops molecular tools for marker-assisted breeding programs targeting traits such as net primary productivity, carbon sequestration, and stress tolerance. His work integrates conventional breeding, cytogenetics, and genomics to create sustainable bioenergy and agricultural systems. He also explores hybrid systems for perennial grasses.
Teaching: He teaches SCSC 302 (Recreational Turf) and SCSC 640 (Intellectual Property in the Plant Sciences), with a combined annual teaching load of ~358 students across web-based, blended, and honors formats.
Labs & Teams: Leads the Perennial Grass Lab (BLDG 0956) and collaborates with support staff including Chris Garcia and Ian McGrath. His team focuses on advancing biorefinery platforms and sustainable agricultural practices.
