Russell Poskitt is a Senior Lecturer at the UWA Business School's Accounting and Finance department since 2016, in a teaching-only role. He previously held academic positions including Associate Professor (Finance) at the University of Auckland (2002–2014), and taught at multiple institutions including the University of Canterbury and Unitec Institute of Technology. His teaching focuses on corporate finance, investments, derivatives, banking, and economics.
Poskitt holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Auckland (2001), an MCom from the University of Canterbury (1996), a Diploma in Banking Studies (1989), and a BSc(Hons) in Economics (1975).
His research interests include price discovery mechanisms in financial markets, interest rate derivatives, credit risk, and market regulation. Key areas of study involve LIBOR fixing mechanics, commercial paper pricing, and disclosure reforms. He has published extensively in journals like Journal of Futures Markets and Pacific Basin Finance Journal.
Poskitt has received several awards including the Emerald Literati Network Highly Commended Award (2009, 2014) and the MED/RBNZ/Treasury Best Paper Award (2012). His work often explores intermarket linkages, regulatory impacts on financial reporting, and institutional investor behavior.
