معرفی
Professor Russell Minns is a faculty member at the University of Southampton, renowned for his research in ultrafast laser spectroscopy and photochemistry. His work focuses on using femtosecond laser sources to study molecular reactions in real time, with a particular emphasis on photoelectron spectroscopy and XUV/X-ray techniques. He leads the Computational Systems Chemistry research group and holds a Royal Society University Research Fellowship. His research spans applications from atmospheric chemistry to biological systems, leveraging advanced light sources like free electron lasers.
**Education & Career**: Graduated with a first-class degree from King's College London (2001), obtained a PhD in Rydberg molecules under Prof. Helen Fielding (2005). Postdoctoral roles at the University of Virginia and UCL preceded his Royal Society Fellowship (2011). Promoted to Professor in 2023 after serving as Associate Professor since 2019.
**Research Focus**: Current projects include developing time-resolved vacuum-ultraviolet spectroscopy, XUV probing of reaction intermediates, and covariance ion imaging. His group explores dynamics in molecules like acetylene, iodobenzene, and carboxylic acid dimers, with funding from EPSRC, Royal Society, and Leverhulme Trust.
**Awards & Grants**: Royal Society University Research Fellowship (2011–present), EPSRC grants for laser spectroscopy innovations, and leadership in UK XFEL conceptual design projects. His work has been published in journals like *Physical Review A*, *Journal of the American Chemical Society*, and *The Journal of Chemical Physics*.
**Students & Supervision**: Supervises PhD students in Chemistry and Theoretical and Molecular Computational Science (TMCS), focusing on ultrafast reaction dynamics and molecular spectroscopy techniques. Active in training the next generation of researchers in advanced spectroscopic methodologies.
