Russell Lundholm is the Deloitte and Touche Professor in Accounting and Chair of the Accounting and Information Systems Division at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. He holds a B.S. from Oregon State University, M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, and is a Certified Public Accountant (Iowa).
His research focuses on financial statement analysis, equity valuation, forecasting methodologies, and corporate disclosure strategies. Key themes include the impact of Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) on financial analysis, investor behavior in volatile markets, and cross-border communication challenges for foreign firms in US capital markets. He teaches advanced courses such as 'Stock Market Inefficiencies' at the PhD level.
Lundholm has authored over 60 publications spanning accounting, finance, and economics journals. His work addresses topics like analyst forecast accuracy, earnings surprises, and the role of competitive intensity in profitability and stock returns. Notable contributions include frameworks for understanding linguistic barriers in investor communication and models for forecasting retail industry sales.
