Russell J. Clark is a Teaching Professor at the Department of Physics & Astronomy, University of Pittsburgh. He holds a dual role as Senior Lecturer and serves as the sole undergraduate advisor for all physics and astronomy majors. Dr. Clark oversees the undergraduate teaching laboratories, managing operations and training graduate teaching assistants for lab courses. He regularly teaches introductory physics courses such as Phys. 0110, 0111, 0174, 0175, 0212, and 0219.
His research interests span physics education and experimental particle physics. Key areas include the impact of peer review on scientific writing, proton spin structure analysis, and studies of neutrino interactions in high-energy regimes. He has authored notable publications in journals like Physical Review Letters and Journal of Writing Research.
Dr. Clark received the Ampco-Pittsburgh Prize for Excellence in Advising in 2018, recognizing his impactful mentorship. His work bridges teaching innovation, laboratory management, and experimental physics, contributing to both pedagogy and fundamental research.
