Russell Golman is an Associate Professor of Behavioral Economics and Decision Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Social and Decision Sciences, within the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied and Interdisciplinary Mathematics from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Mathematics from Stanford University. His research integrates economics, psychology, and mathematics to explore decision-making mechanisms, including belief-based utility, strategic deliberation in game theory, and complex social dynamics.
Key research areas include behavioral decision making, information avoidance, and the cognitive processes behind strategic choices. Notable works include studies on belief-based utility, the dual accumulator model of strategic deliberation, and analyses of social identity and trends. He has published in top journals like *Psychological Review*, *Science Advances*, and *Journal of Economic Theory*.
Golman has received grants from the Russell Sage Foundation, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and others. He organized the 2017 Belief-Based Utility Conference and serves on editorial boards for journals like *Games*. His teaching spans decision analysis, game theory, and complex systems modeling.
