معرفی
Russell Diefenbach is a Senior Research Fellow at Macquarie University's Macquarie Medical School and an Honorary Principal Research Fellow at the University of Sydney. His career spans postdoctoral research at the University of Toronto (1991–1994) and roles at the University of Sydney (1995) and the Westmead Institute for Medical Research (1996–2017). He holds a PhD in Biochemistry (University of Queensland, 1992) and a BSc(Hons) in Biochemistry (University of Queensland, 1987).
Research Interests:
- Oncolytic virotherapy and viral entry mechanisms (HSV-1, HIV)
- Melanoma research, including liquid biopsies and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) analysis
- Clinical applications of ctDNA dynamics in cancer prognosis and treatment response
- MicroRNA biomarkers for melanoma prognosis
- Exosome-based biomarkers in melanoma
Key Projects:
- "Multimodal Precision Liquid Biopsy to Predict Risk of Melanoma Recurrence" (2022–2025)
- "Exosomes: predictive and prognostic biomarkers in melanoma" (2018–2019)
Recent Research Trends: His articles emphasize ctDNA analysis for melanoma recurrence prediction, immunotherapy response monitoring, and functional biomarker discovery. Work spans virology (HSV-1 assembly mechanisms) and molecular oncology (melanoma genomics).
Awards: No awards explicitly mentioned in the texts.
Advising & Grants:
- Led projects on liquid biopsy development and exosome biomarkers
- Collaborated on clinical trials for glioblastoma immunotherapy
Labs/Teams: Affiliated with the Macquarie Medical School and the Westmead Institute for Medical Research, focusing on translational cancer research and virology.
