Dr. Russel Torah is an Associate Professor at the University of Southampton's Department of Electronics and Computer Science. He specializes in wearable e-textile technologies, focusing on biomedical applications and sustainable manufacturing processes. His work bridges electronics, materials science, and healthcare, with projects funded by Horizon Europe and the Medical Research Council. Key collaborations include the Smart Electronic Materials and Systems Institute and the Centre for Flexible Electronics and E-Textiles (C-FLEET).
Research interests include wearable sensors for skin health monitoring, durable e-textile fabrication, and sustainable electronic materials. Notable projects include the STELEC initiative for sustainable textile electronics and WEARPLEX for multiplexed biomedical electrodes. Current PhD supervision spans 7 students in electronics and design disciplines.
