Dr Rupert Dunbar is a Senior Lecturer at Kingston University, affiliated with the Department of Law within the School of Law, Social and Behavioural Sciences. He serves as module leader for Land Law and EU Law (Level 5 modules) and coordinates study abroad programs for the Department. His research focuses on the intersection of international and domestic law, emphasizing justice and legal certainty in domestic court case law. His PhD critiqued the European Union Court of Justice's approach to applying international law within the EU legal system. He holds a PhD from Kingston University, an LLM in European Law from King's College London, and a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
Rupert's teaching expertise spans Contract Law, Equity, and Tort Law. His research interests include EU external relations law, UK external relations law, and the adaptation of new technologies within the EU internal market. He actively supervises PhD students in these areas. Notable publications explore topics such as AI regulation in the EU, CJEU treaty interpretation, and environmental taxation in aviation.
Awarded the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, Rupert contributes to both academic and pedagogical advancements. His work bridges theoretical legal frameworks with practical applications in EU and international law contexts.
