Research Interests
Her scholarship centers on nineteenth-century American print culture and its relationship to democratic theory, examining how print materials construct reading experiences and envision community engagement. She investigates historical intersections of literature, media forms, and civic participation, with particular focus on how marginalized voices navigated oppressive structures through textual production. Her work bridges literary studies with political philosophy to analyze print's role in shaping democratic practices.
Professional Activities
She serves as co-editor for Living in Languages, an online open-access journal on translation and languages published collaboratively by the English and Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Departments. Her teaching includes UUNI110, where she guides students in using writing and academic inquiry to navigate differences around race, gender, and sexuality through case studies of police brutality and reproductive rights debates.
