Rumen Alexandrov

Rumen Alexandrov is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG), Faculty of Architecture, Department of Residential Buildings. He holds reception hours on Tuesdays from 13:00-14:00 and Thursdays from 14:00-15:00 in Cabinet A 1012.

His educational background includes:

• Mathematics High School in Vratsa (1984-1988)
• Master of Architecture from UACEG (1990-1996)
• PhD studies in Urban Planning, Regional and Landscape Planning and Urban Development at UACEG (1997-2000) with dissertation topic "Urban Problems in the NPP Region"

Dr. Alexandrov's research interests span across multiple domains of architectural practice and theory. His work particularly focuses on residential building design, urban planning, landscape architecture, and spatial planning regulations. With extensive experience in both academic instruction and practical implementation, he bridges theoretical knowledge with real-world applications in architectural design. His expertise covers the full spectrum from conceptual design to construction documentation for various building types including residential, public, and industrial facilities.

His recent scholarly output demonstrates evolving interests in temporary accommodations and outdoor recreational spaces, with his 2024 publication examining current trends in worker housing design. His work reflects a consistent thread connecting urban infrastructure with human-centered design approaches.

His notable scientific achievements include:

• Second prize in architectural competition for Kindergarten in 'Gorna Banya' district, Sofia (2019)
• Second prize in 'Sofia and European Integration' competition (2001)
• Third prize in competition for Central Public Health Center of Sofia (1999)

Throughout his career, Dr. Alexandrov has supervised numerous student projects in residential building design at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His professional activities extend beyond academia to include significant practical experience as Chief Architect of the Municipality of Sozopol (2007-2016) and various executive roles. He maintains active membership in professional organizations including CAB and SAB - Society UACEG.

His design practice, JR Design, has implemented a wide range of projects from residential buildings to public spaces and urban developments across Bulgaria, particularly in Sofia and Sozopol regions.
