Rui Brites is a Visiting Associate Professor at the School of Economics and Management (ISEG) of the University of Lisbon, where he teaches Research Methods and Techniques, and Quantitative and Qualitative Data Analysis. He holds a PhD (2011) and Master’s (1993) in Sociology from ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, along with a Bachelor’s (1991) in the same field.

His research focuses on Values, Happiness, Subjective Well-being, Social Classes, Education, Methodology of Social Sciences, Gender Differences, and Social Stratification. He has participated in dozens of research projects as a methodologist and serves as an Associate Researcher at CIES-Iscte (Center for Research and Studies in Sociology). His work bridges sociological theory with practical applications in education and consumer behavior.
Rui Brites has published in diverse fields, including higher education assessment, basic and secondary education monitoring, and consumer segmentation in retail. His 2011 journal article in the European Journal of Education examines student satisfaction, while his 2011 report analyzes educational policies in Portugal. Earlier works (2006) explore marketing strategies in direct selling.
He has advised one Master’s student (Catarina Martins Lopes) and served as Coordinator for Computer-Assisted Content Analysis (2011–2014). As a MAXQDA Professional Trainer, he also contributes to methodological training. Contact: rui.brites@outlook.com.
