Dr. Rui Benedito is a director at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine, leading the Department of Functional Genetics in a part-time capacity since June 1, 2025, with a transition to full-time expected in September 2025. His research focuses on modeling and understanding how genetic mutations disrupt cellular biology to cause diseases, particularly cardiovascular disorders and cancer.
