Prof. Rudolf Schüßler holds a Professor (C4/W3) position at the Chair of Philosophy II at Universität Bayreuth within the Faculty of Cultural Studies. His academic journey includes studies at Universität Giessen (1981-1985), a PhD 'magna cum laude' from LMU Munich (1989), and habilitation in Philosophy at Duisburg University (1995). He has led major research projects funded by BMBF and Volkswagen Foundation, focusing on energy transition ethics, climate justice, and historical negotiations.
His research spans early modern scholasticism, practical ethics, and negotiation theory. Notable works include Moral im Zweifel (2003/2006) and The Debate on Probable Opinions in the Scholastic Tradition (2019). He contributes to interdisciplinary fields like climate ethics and energy policy justice, collaborating with institutions like the Netherlands Institute of International Relations.
Key awards include the Opus Magnum Stipendium (2015-2017) supporting his book project on scholastic social epistemology. He actively participates in academic organizations including the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Philosophie and serves on editorial boards for negotiation studies journals.
