Rudolf Mahrer

Rudolf Mahrer is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences - Advanced Studies within the College of Humanities at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He is affiliated with the SHS-GE (Humanities Advanced Studies) and CDS (Center for Digital Scholarship) programs, where he contributes to administrative and teaching activities.

His research interests focus on the transformative impact of generative artificial intelligence on writing and thinking processes. He employs methodologies from textual linguistics and genetic criticism to analyze AI-assisted textual creation. This work intersects with digital humanities and educational technology.

He teaches courses titled Writing and Thinking with Generative AIs I and II, which examine how AI tools reshape reading, writing, and critical thinking practices.
