Rubén García Cabrerizo

Rubén García Cabrerizo is a Beatriz Galindo Distinguished Research Fellow in the Department of Medicine at the University of the Balearic Islands, where he leads an independent research line within the Neuropharmacology group (NEUROFARMA) at IUNICS and the Balearic Islands Health Research Institute (IdISBa) under Professor M. Julia García Fuster.

His research focuses on the intersection of neuroscience and pharmacology, particularly exploring gut-brain axis mechanisms, microbiome influences on neural function, and neuropharmacological approaches to addiction disorders. His work integrates molecular neuroscience with clinical applications through collaborations at APC Microbiome Ireland.

He actively contributes to academic training across multiple programs:

• Pharmacology instruction for Biology, Biochemistry, and Chemistry undergraduate degrees
• General Pharmacology for Medical students
• Specialized Neuropharmacology and Addiction Disorders courses in the Master's in Neuroscience

His scientific recognition includes the prestigious Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship awarded for his research at University College Cork's APC Microbiome Ireland.

García Cabrerizo supervises doctoral candidates in Neuroscience and maintains active research partnerships through institutional frameworks including IUNICS and IdISBa, with ongoing investigations into neurotransmission systems and therapeutic approaches for addictive behaviors.
