معرفی
Dr. Ruby Otter-Drost is a Lecturer in Human Physiology at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Groningen, and affiliated with the SMART Movements research group. She also holds a Lecturer/Researcher position at Hanze University of Applied Sciences' School of Sports Studies within the Applied Sports Science group. Her research focuses on endurance athlete performance monitoring, exercise physiology, and sports science, with a particular emphasis on training load analysis and athlete recovery.
Her work includes developing coach dashboards for training feedback, investigating specificity of training in speed skating, and analyzing markers of functional overreaching in athletes. Notable contributions include a systematic review on endurance athlete overreaching and a data-driven approach to training load relationships. She has also contributed to studies on injury risk in runners and the impact of life events on athlete performance.
Dr. Otter-Drost has received the Best Paper Award (2017) and engages in public outreach through media contributions on topics like cramp prevention and festival survival strategies. She serves on TRIQ-sporTTec's advisory board and collaborates with sports organizations to apply research findings in practical settings.
Her research integrates physiological metrics, machine learning, and sports technology to enhance athlete performance and prevent overtraining. Key themes include stress-recovery balance, training load management, and optimizing race-specific training methodologies.
