Rowland M. Brucken serves as Professor and History Program Coordinator in the Department of History and Political Science at Norwich University's College of Arts & Sciences, where he has taught since 2001. His instructional portfolio spans U.S. history, historical methods, constitutional law, civil rights movements, human rights issues, racism studies, and baseball history.
Academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts from College of Wooster and Master of Arts/Doctorate from The Ohio State University.
Research expertise focuses on American diplomatic history, 20th-century U.S. history, and world history, with specialized investigations into the origins of international human rights law post-WWII, societal recovery from mass atrocities (genocide, war crimes), and baseball's historical evolution. His scholarship integrates historical analysis with contemporary human rights frameworks.
Externally, Professor Brucken serves as Amnesty International USA’s Zimbabwe Country Specialist for human rights monitoring and asylum case testimony, while maintaining ultrarunning achievements exceeding 60 marathons and 25 ultramarathons.
