Rossella Maspoli is an Associate Professor in Architectural Technology at the Department of Architecture and Design (DAD), Polytechnic University of Turin, where she has been a lecturer since 1995. She holds a PhD in "Building and Environmental Restoration" (1992) and has led numerous research and urban regeneration initiatives, including the UNESCO Creative City nomination for Turin and the Torino Automotive Heritage Network (TAHN). She is actively involved in PhD programs, editorial boards, and international heritage organizations.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Building and Environmental Restoration (1992). She has held teaching and leadership roles in multiple master's and PhD programs at institutions including the University of Padua, University of Chieti-Pescara, and Polytechnic-COREP.
Her research focuses on industrial heritage, sustainable urban regeneration, public space design, and the cultural valorization of automotive heritage. She investigates historical-technological analysis, adaptive reuse, pandemic-resilient urban living, and co-design methodologies. Her work emphasizes participatory approaches, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability in urban transformation.
Her recent publications explore themes such as the symbolic value of industrial heritage, reinforced concrete in early automotive factories, post-pandemic urbanism, and the integration of public art in urban regeneration. These works reflect a consistent focus on industrial archaeology, urban resilience, and heritage tourism, bridging historical analysis with contemporary design innovation.
Among her scientific recognitions is being named a Fellow of The International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage (2012–2023). She also serves on the editorial committee of Industrial Heritage and has held advisory roles in cultural organizations.
She supervises PhD students including Yuxuan Liu and Giacomo Girocchi, and has led externally funded research projects such as the PLAN National Pepper Fair and the Lingotto Automotive Heritage initiative. Her teaching spans architectural technology, cultural heritage, and sustainable design at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
She leads the "Portici d’Artista" and "Arte in Transito" projects in Turin’s Borgo San Secondo, which use public art and community mapping to regenerate urban spaces. These initiatives involve collaboration with the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts, local associations, and municipal authorities, emphasizing co-design and civic engagement.
