Ross Mazzupappa is an Associate Teaching Professor in Photography & Printmaking at Bowling Green State University's School of Art. He teaches courses including Introduction to Photography, Introduction to Printmaking, Relief Printing, Lithography, Large Format Photography, Color Photography, and advanced photography courses. His MFA and MA were earned at the University of Iowa, with a BFA from Youngstown State University.
Mazzupappa's creative research integrates traditional printmaking, drawing, photography, and digital imaging. His work explores themes of labor, industry, place, memory, and history, often incorporating political, technological, ecological, and economic dimensions. Influenced by his Rust Belt upbringing and Italian-American heritage, his art examines industrial identity, forgotten spaces, and concepts of solastalgia through the lens of Japanese 'Ukiyo' philosophy.
Recent accomplishments include workshops on DIY printmaking tools at the University of California-Fresno, conference presentations on roller-making techniques at the Mid America Print Conference, and development of the 'Electrostatic Relief Etching' photographic process presented to international print research organizations.
