Roslyn Francis

Roslyn Francis is an Associate Professor in Molecular Imaging at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Medical School and served as Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine/WA PET Service at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital from 2013 to 2022. She holds a medical degree from UWA and completed a Cancer Research UK Clinical Research Fellowship and a PhD in antibody therapies at the Royal Free Hospital London. Her work focuses on novel PET tracers, quantitative imaging, and harmonization of clinical trial standards in Nuclear Medicine. She leads the molecular imaging component of the NHMRC CRE grant for the National Centre for Asbestos Related Diseases and co-investigates high-impact grants including a $1.5M MRFF-funded glioma trial and $4M Movember-backed prostate cancer projects.

Key collaborations include establishing the Australasian Radiopharmaceutical Trials Network (ARTnet) as its inaugural scientific chair (2014–present), co-founding the Australian Centre for Quantitative Imaging (ACQI) with Prof Martin Ebert, and partnering with Prof Paul Parizel to develop a new 3T MRI and digital PET-CT facility in Western Australia. Her research contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.

Notable grants include a 2024 MRFF Neurological Disorders grant for Alzheimer’s disease and an Insurance & Care NSW-funded mesothelioma imaging study. Her involvement spans 30 active grants and 96 research outputs, emphasizing translational research across oncology, cardiology, neurology, and immunotherapy. She actively promotes imaging validity through quality programs like PET camera accreditation and radiopharmaceutical production standards.
