Roslyn Bologh

Roslyn Bologh is a full professor at the College of Staten Island (CUNY) and a member of the Graduate Faculty in the Doctoral Program in Sociology at the CUNY Graduate Center. She serves as Director of the MA in Liberal Studies Program at CSI, previously acting director of the Women’s Studies Program at the Graduate Center, and coordinator of the Sociology/Anthropology program at CSI. Her academic roles include chairing over 10 doctoral dissertation committees.

Education: BA from Hunter College, PhD from the CUNY Graduate Center.

Research interests focus on classical sociological theory and political economy, blending historical and contemporary perspectives, with feminist inquiry central to her work. Her scholarship bridges Marx and Weber, exploring masculinity and social thought. She has published two influential books and over 30 articles/chapters.

Recognized nationally/internationally, she received the Humanist Sociology Association’s annual book award. She actively contributes to the field through editorial boards (e.g., Critical Sociology, Gender, Work and Organizations) and invited speaking engagements, including presentations to Fulbright Scholars at NYU.

Leadership roles include serving on the Council of the ASA Section on History of Sociology and Social Thought. Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary dialogue between theory and praxis.
