Roslyn Appleby is a Casual Academic at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD and multiple advanced degrees in Linguistics, Education, and Architecture. As an Industry Fellow (honorary) with the School of International Studies and Education, her work bridges applied linguistics, gender studies, and posthumanism.
Her research focuses on the intersections of language, gender, sexuality, and power, with notable publications on postcolonial feminist geographies, human-animal relationships, and masculinities in global English language teaching. Key books include Men and Masculinities in Global English Language Teaching (2014) and Sexing the Animal in a Posthumanist World (2019). She has been funded for projects exploring posthumanism and human-animal ethics, and her teaching spans multiliteracy, academic English, and research methodologies.
