Rosie Shrout

Rosie Shrout is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at Purdue University’s College of Health and Human Sciences. She also holds a Faculty Associate position at Purdue’s Center on Aging and the Life Course and maintains courtesy appointments in the Department of Psychological Sciences. Her research focuses on the biobehavioral health impacts of stress in couples, particularly those affected by breast cancer or chronic illness, and aging populations.

Dr. Shrout’s lab employs interdisciplinary methods spanning lab-based experiments, ecological momentary assessments, and large-scale longitudinal studies. Her work has been recognized with awards including the KL2 Early Career Investigator Award (NIH/Indiana CTSI) and the Young Scholar Award from the American Psychosomatic Society. Current projects examine:

• Daily physiological responses in breast cancer survivors and their partners
• Disclosure patterns of chronic illness at work/home
• Health impacts of student chronic illness during the pandemic
