Rosie Flewitt is Professor of Early Childhood Communication at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her research examines young children’s multimodal communication in home, community, and educational settings, with a focus on inclusion, digital technologies, and participatory methodologies.
Research interests include:
- Multimodal meaning-making through language, gesture, and digital media
- Inclusive pedagogy for disadvantaged children and those with disabilities
- Ethnographic and visual research methods
- Digital literacy in diverse family contexts
Her publications predominantly explore digital technology's role in early language/literacy development, ethical research practices, and inclusive documentation systems. Recent work emphasizes participatory design, parental mediation, and policy implications for early childhood education in the digital age.
