معرفی
Professor Rosemary Leonard serves as Chair in Social Capital and Sustainability at Western Sydney University, a position she assumed in 2016 after returning from CSIRO where she was Senior Research Scientist (2011–2015). Her academic journey at the institution spans lecturer to Associate Professor roles since completing her PhD at Macquarie University, including directorship of the Social Justice and Social Change Research Centre (2007–2011).
Her educational foundation includes:
- BA (Hons 1) in Psychology from Macquarie University
- PhD from Macquarie University
Leonard's research creates vital intersections between theoretical social science and community application. She pioneers frameworks like Compassionate Communities that transform end-of-life care through neighborhood networks, while investigating how women's social positioning strengthens environmental sustainability initiatives. Her work consistently examines non-profit organizations as catalysts for social capital development, with recent projects focusing on climate resilience in urban communities. This approach bridges academic rigor with tangible social impact across health, environment, and equity domains.
As Director of the Social Justice and Social Change Research Centre, she established significant cross-sector partnerships. Current work leverages her CSIRO experience in large-scale social science applications, though specific grant details aren't publicly itemized. Her leadership emphasizes community co-design, ensuring research directly serves societal needs through practical toolkits and policy frameworks.
Professor Leonard maintains active engagement through her Kingswood Campus office (PG10), with contact facilitated via email R.Leonard@westernsydney.edu.au or telephone +61 417 689 838.
